Joyce Kozloff earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in art education in 1964 from the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh, and a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from Columbia University in 1967. She has taught at several universities, including the Chicago Art Institute, the School of Visual Arts in New York, and Cooper Union in New York. Her work is included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Art, and the Museum of Modern Art. She has also received two grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and one grant from the Rockefeller Foundation.
